Phra Woot Sumedho (Tongmun)

Thai Theravada Buddhist Monk promoting self, social, spiritual, and sustainability awareness. - พระภิกษุ

I am a Ph.D. student at MCU (Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University) specializing in Peace Studies. Over the years, I have cultivated a deep interest in understanding the dynamics of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and personal growth. My academic journey has provided me with a solid foundation in these areas, equipping me with the tools to explore how Buddhist principles can contribute to promoting peace and harmony in society.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have actively engaged in practical applications of my knowledge. I am a certified coach, having completed extensive training from various coaching institutes such as Coach Thai, Mind Coach, and Jimi the Coach institute, etc. With over 125 hours of coaching education and 500 hours of coaching experience, I have honed my skills to provide guidance and support to individuals seeking personal development and positive change in their lives.

My dedication to making a positive impact doesn't stop at coaching. For more than six years, I have volunteered with the Gilannadham group, offering Buddhist counseling to those facing suffering and challenges. This experience has deepened my understanding of the human condition and the potential for spiritual guidance to alleviate pain and bring solace.

Collaboration is essential to my work, and I'm honored to play a central role in organizations like the Sangha for Peace, a regional network of peacebuilders. We collectively generate ideas and initiatives aimed at fostering greater understanding, empathy, and harmony in our communities.

One of our recent initiatives includes the development of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) programs, exemplifying our commitment to holistic change. This collaborative effort brings together diverse stakeholders, including the Gilannadham group, trained coaches, counselors, and experienced monks. Through my connections with experts in various fields, including those I've both studied and worked alongside, our approach encompasses a comprehensive understanding of the Intra-and-interfaith context. This emphasis on inclusivity not only fosters cooperation among different faiths but also ensures a well-rounded and effective strategy for addressing complex societal issues.

Ultimately, my journey is rooted in a sincere desire to contribute positively to the world by integrating my academic insights, coaching skills, Buddhist principles, and collaborative efforts with various organizations and individuals who share the same vision of creating a more peaceful and harmonious society.
